Verizon
"GTE, now Verizon Communications, started deployment of Proactive Automatic Message Accounting (AMA) Testing (PAT) units in 1994. These units provide a mechanized method for Automatic Message verification that detects billing discrepancies. Currently, Verizon uses PAT units installed in some 379 central offices across six different switch technologies. This equipment allows Verizon the flexibility to perform AMA testing, almost instantaneously, in a variety of network elements, within Verizon's nationwide operating area."
